Human Heart - This person suffered from heart failure that caused enlargement & overstretching of the left ventricle.
Human Heart - This is the same human heart, opened at a slightly different angle. The venticles are in view with part of the AV valve between the left atrium & ventricle clearly present at your right.
Beef (Cow) Heart - This section shows part of the left atrium with the AV valve leading into the left ventricle. Only a small section of the aorta remains.
Sheep Heart - The wooden probe is in athe orta, forceps are in the brachiocephalic artery, & a metal probe is in the pulmonary artery.
Sheep Heart - anterior or ventral surface
Sheep Heart - anterior or ventral surface
Sheep Heart - posterior or dorsal surface. The right atrium has a partial cut through it. The vena cava & pulmonary veins are not easily located.
Sheep Heart - posterior or dorsal surface. A small pair of forceps is in the superior vena cava, large forceps in pulmonary vein & a probe goes into the inferior vena cava.
Sheep Heart - internal view. The left atrium & ventricle are on your left. A relatively large section of the right ventricle is also visible on the right.
